TA DA!!! Our Weekend Project

Since Jason got a fabulous new TV for Christmas (ok, it's mine too), we decided it needed a more permanent home than sitting on a coffee table in front of the armoir. Check out our progress!

Fort Worths Finest

Thank you Lady cop who saved us from the wind blowing through our front door!!!!
This morning (past Saturday) we were packing to head to Houston at 5am. The cop who had responded to our 911 call drove by and spotlighted Jason, then politely waved when she realized it was ok for him to be there. We are feeling a little better about the house now…and she definitely made our day. Its not very often someone actually follows up like that.

Raindrops keep falling on my Head

Nov 12 . . .(once again.... i have been writing, but not posting)
Oh the 60+ year old home we own. Why do you continue to be such a pain? If it would hurt you, I’d kick you…but I can’t because its highly likely I would then just have a pile of bricks. Tonight, you leaked. Nowhere, but directly above our bed. Why do you hate me so? Drip Drip Drip…..I can sleep to that, but you know Jason can’t. So what happens next (at 10pm)? We are forced to find buckets and crawl through your brain (the attic) to find your pestering patter. Are ya happy now?

Cow Dog

So were took the trip to Giddings a few weekends ago. We don’t have kids, so one must blog about their dog….who is a lot like a small child.

Howie had the time of his life… He ran with the cows, and a few chased him, which he loved.
Here, he was crawling slowly towards this cow’s corn…..he would then grab a bite and run off to make sure he wasn’t getting in trouble. He did this about 3 times before realizing the cow didn’t care. It was time to terrorize the horse.

State of Security

(written Nov 10....just taking me awhile to post!)

Well….I was right to begin blogging about what is going on in our little world…we had another little mishap last night.
We went to bed around 9, and around midnight we were awakened to our intrusion alarm going off (yes, the same pain-in-the-you-know-what system that Jason was sold by the door by door salesman many months ago). Once Jason got up to look around, he discovered our front door was open. Shaking more that I can describe (though still in bed), I called 911. While talking to the operator, my sister called Jason’s cell because the alarm company called her to find out if everything was ok. Jason told her what was going on, then we waited about 2 minutes for the cops to show up (which Jason is STILL impressed by).

Why they couldn’t have sent these 2 out the first time we had to call Fort Worth’s finest, I do not know. They were incredibly thorough, checking every messy corner of our house, inside and out…..before concluding that there was no evidence of a break in (or maybe they just saw the dishes in the sink and dirty clothes on the floor and discovered that we really had nothing of value to steal). They DID mention how great King Kong was though….good job guy.
They assured us that they would patrol our house several more times tonight and keep an eye out on our neighborhood. We felt content with their evaluation…..

For the next 4 hours we discussed the situation (with Howie groaning at us to turn off the TV and go back to sleep)…we have come to the conclusion that the door was not shut all the way and the wind must have blown it open. While we are both confident that Jason turned the lock on the door, it just must not have been shut completely when he did.

As a side note, I must say, I felt like I was in a Brink’s commercial. They must have had these situations happen before, because we reacted and took the same steps the poor scared couple does on that commercial (minus Jason’s .45). Could you imagine the commercial if the husband got up and got out his gun before exploring the house? I think that’s more of an action movie than a home security commercial.
